DAY 4+5
Sunday evening
Presentations of ideas for projects so far;
Dodda Maggy +Marie
Recording live. Using midi.
Carousel like you find in amusement parks.
Working with layers of voice. Want to play live on top of this. Accordion.
Performance in centre with audience around.
Set up in surround.
Music floating around the room
Music resembling carousel music.
Voices on top.
Performance also using video.
Tisha
Examples of sound samples.
Using radio. Different frequencies from the radio.
Between stations.
Both FM and AM. No manipulation of the sounds except for some editing.
Combination of sound and text. Connecting the text to locational elements in the radio sounds. Using the gestural movements on the radio in connection with the movement in the surround sound system.
Two types of space. The space in the room where it is displayed and the space it suggests through the different elements.
Morten
Noise at different frequencies in different channels.
Hard shift to “sort of” pop music.
Also have another piece based on sine waves.
Visuals; maybe a map of where the sound comes from.
Nestory
Not a musical approach. Create events happening around the room. Exploring the possibilities of movement in the surround system.
Collected sounds. Spaces circulating and chasing each other.
Example. A simple ping moving around the system. Want to use a simple “silent” approach. Space like in outer space.
Christina
The sounds of lifting boxes and letting them fall.
Create the feeling of things falling on the audience. Sounds going from one side of the room to the other.
Espen
Previous sounds of ping-pong making a beat.
Put contact microphones on the rackets. Just using editing. Not manipulation.
Example. Fast rhythms intense and dense. The final piece will be minimal. Not so many sounds.
Nanna
Video and audio.
Wanted to make a site specific story, but not time for that.
Live mixing of video materials.
Six different sounds in different channels.
Live mixing of sounds as well. Field recordings.
