Nordic Sound Art programme 2012-2014

The Nordic Sound Art joint study programme (MFA level) will again be open for applications in mid april 2012.
The specifics and exact application deadline will be announced on the website www.nordicsoundart.com.
The Nordic Sound Art programme is a two-year, MA level, education in sound art.
The study programme is arranged as a series of 12 intensive courses or workshops. One course-module of the programme will typically have one or two weeks duration.
The individual course-module takes place at one of the participating art academies.

Theory & Graphic Scores Workshop

The next Nordic Sound Art workshop takes place from oct. 31st - nov. 4th at the Inter Arts Center, Malmø Sweden. The workshop is centered around general theoretical lectures given by Rune Søchting and Gertrud Sandqvist. A walk-trough of key historical sound art works are given by Jonas Olesen.
Finally the swedish composer Stefan Klaverdal is giving a lecture about experimental graphic scores.

Interaction with MAX/MSP

MAX/MSP workshop at KUVA - The Finnish Academy of Fine Arts, Helsinki.
Oct. 3rd - Oct. 7th.
The workshop will explore the programming language MAX/MSP and it's possibilities in creating interactive installtions. Different sensors will be used and the WII Remote controller will be used to gather environmental information. This data i sent to computers to create response. In the workshop the students will get hands-on guidance in realizing interactive installations that incorporates sound.

Rainforest - Berlin

The students from Nordic Sound Art are realizing David Tudors 'Rainforest IV' at Gallery Singuhr, Berlin.
The installation is created in collaboration with the artist Matt Rogalsky, former asistant of David Tudor, and Carsten Seiffarth from Gallery Singuhr.
Opening: 26th May 2011 vernisage with performance at 7 p.m.
long night: 19th June 2011 until 12 p.m.
The Nordic Sound Art students are giving a live performance on the evening of the opening.
The installation is exhibited from May 26th to the 19th of June 2011.

Nordic Sound Art at SPOR

Artists from the Nordic Sound Art programme are featured with site-specific works at SPOR Festival, Denmark.
Works by Cecilia Jonsson, Elin Øyen Vister, Martinka Bobrikova, Joonas Siren
The audio pieces are produced specifically for Joel Cahen's Wet-sounds Project - an underwater sound system, installed at Lyseng Svømmebad, Århus Denmark. The peices will be presented May 8th from 15-17 pm.

Field recording and site-specific sound
Nordic Sound Art workshop, Trondheim, Norway - 28.04. - 06.04.11

The workshop will take place at NTNUs seminar location “Hopsjø” which is located on the island Hitra, Norway. Through a series of excursions, sound walks and on-site experiments, we will investigate different auditive environments. We will cover different methods of field recording and present a historical overview of works by artists working in this genre. The students will produce works and the workshop will culminate with a public presentation in Trondheim.

Nordic Sound Art Radio Show

March 6th, Elin Øyen Vister, Christian Mastrup a.k.a Flopper and Jonas Olesen visited SILAKKA Radio Show, 100,3MHZ FM, Helsinki, as live studio guests. The show featured live improvisation, and general talk about the programme. A pre-recorded piece by Joonas Siren, was also played.
