An inspirational gathering focusing on future sound

Researchers, artists, businesses and students…
Sound enthusiasts are invited to a unique and inspirational gathering of  some of the region’s leading players in the area of sound-related technology, design, art and cultural research. This meeting will take place on 7th and 8th of June and will focus on the role of sound in future cultural and commercial trends.

Background
Denmark and Sweden have an almost 100-year-old tradition of working within the fields of sound technology, sound research and sound design. Denmark is world renowned for its loudspeaker and microphone technology, as well as its hearing aids and noise reduction systems. Sweden is famous for its mobile-telephone technology, its music industry, and sound design in the areas of arts and virtual gaming.

Traditionally, many of these enterprises are seen as different lines of work. However, it makes good sense to understand them as a single cluster within the same area of expertise.

New dialogue
The EU-funded project ‘Sound Forum Øresund’ has taken an initiative to bring previously separated competences together in a new concept of dialog. The aim is to provide inspiration for new ideas influence educational choices.

What to expect
The Sound Days event will take place at Kulturstaldene (by Halmtorvet in central Copenhagen) where a wide range of presentations, debates and workshops will be open to visitors. Visitors will also be invited to experience a selection of artistic and technical installations, and they will have the chance to enjoy a selection of concerts demonstrating the creative use of new technology and bringing forth new experiences
of sound.
